Decathlon India Opens Flagship Store in Chennai

Decathlon, the leading French sports equipment and Sportswear Company opens its flagship store at Poonamallee in Chennai city this Saturday, 10th October 2015. 

This will be Decathlon’s first store in the city and the second in Tamil Nadu after Coimbatore, and will offer the best in sporting supplies, along with Decathlon’s signature customer service.

With an impressive 2000square meter sales and 500 square meter play area, the store will give Chennai’s sport loving visitors an experience to remember with emphasize on cycling, racket sports, water sports, trekking and running

As part of the store opening celebrations, Decathlon will conduct 2-day long cycling, running, zumba, roller-skating and self-defense workshops over the weekend (10th and 11th October)at the Poonamallee store premises.

The Chennai store which offers over 5000 products across 40 sports will have the product range similar to that found in any Decathlon store around the world. To provide a complete sporting experience, the store will have multiple zones, starting from Experience, Play to Discovery Sport. 

The multi-zone concept is based on learning, experiencing and discovering all forms of sports under one-roof and will include a Football Court, Skating Rink, Table Tennis experience areas, Outdoor Showroom with Tents and Turnball, a Decathlon innovation product specially designed for discovering racket sports, speedball or the pleasure of developing agility. 

Decathlon will also add a Cycling Track, Badminton and Beach Volleyball experience zones to the store in the future. The price range for sporting goods at the store starts at INR 49.

 Antoine Algrain, Store Manager, Decathlon, said on the occasion, “We are excited on the opening of our flagship store in Chennai, a sport loving city of over 9 Million with lots of expectations. We have already engaged with over 4000 customers addicted to our concept. A month before opening, we were already receiving 20 calls a day on average. 

We promise to bring the opportunity for people to experience all sport and also find all their sports items under one roof, some of them very difficult to find equipment today like horse-riding, fishing, trekking gear and cycling accessories. We also hope the store develops some new sport practices and enhance existing ones by our offerings”.

This includes groundbreaking designs such as MyBike, Hiking – Arpenaz 15 and Cricket Range which have not only proved popular among visitors across the world but have helped the Company truly follow its belief in making the pleasure and benefits of sports accessible to all. 

The store will cater to the catchment areas of Sriperumbudur, Porur, Avadi and Vandalur apart from customers from the city of Chennai.

Enthusiasts can also expect regular cycling, running, Zumba, roller-skating, tennis, badminton and basketball workshops through the year at the store.
