Mr.T.L.Arunachalam
is a lawyer by qualification and has been with the insurance industry for close
to 25 years as of 2014. He has both insurance company and broking Insurance
experience, both in India and abroad.
Within
insurance domain, he has been on the Business Development / Marketing space for
the last 18 years.
He has
a degree in English Literature and Law (with elective subject in Insurance)
from University of Madras and also has an Associateship of Insurance Institute
of India specializing in Marine Insurance. He is a certified Six Sigma Green
Belt holder from BIS.

Started
his insurance career as a Direct recruit Class I officer recruited by General
Insurance Corporation of India and later posted to New India Assurance, India’s
largest non-life insurer, Mr. Arunachalam has worked across various line of
functions from Underwriting & Legal Claims ( Motor liability, WC, Consumer
Forum and Civil suits) to Branch Administration, Business Development etc.
After 11 years in New India Assurance, Mr. Arunachalam moved to Iffco Tokio
General Insurance Co.Ltd.
He
started his stint as Head of the Japanese and Korean business Dept in New Delhi
and personally handled large insurance portfolios of reputed Corporate such as
Maruti Suzuki, Suzuki Metals, the entire Honda Group ( Honda Motorcycles, Honda
Siel Cars, Honda Siel Power Products, Honda Design) and several other Japanese
corporates in Delhi NCR. In 2003, Mr.Arunachalam moved to Chennai as Business
Head of Iffco Tokio’s Tamil Nadu operations.
By the
end of 2007, Mr.Arunachalam was invited by Mr.R.Thiagarajan, Chairman of
Shriram Group to join the Group to take a new role in Philippines where the
Group had invested in a mid-sized Insurance company.
Mr.Arunachalam
moved to Manila, Philippines in November 2007 and embarked on a three year
assignment as Senior Vice President and later as Executive Vice President
reporting to the Board, when he helped the company to gain entry into Broker’s
market including Trinity Insurance Brokers, Accette Insurance Brokers (now
Howden Group), Winebrenner & Inigo Brokers etc. and also key accounts like
Asian Development Bank, Indo-phil Textiles Inc, (AV Birla Group), BFG
Philippines.
He had
also acquired a number of manufacturing clients from among the Indian investor
community in Philippines. On return to India in August 2010, Mr. Arunachalam
has been with Bharat Re-Insurance Brokers, a Shriram Group company. He is a
Director on the Board and has launched all new efforts such as acquiring key
corporate accounts through the Group level contacts within the financial
business community in Mumbai & Gujarat.
Mr.
Arunachalam is also key contact for Bharat Re in the UNiBA Partners,
which is a global brokers Network, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium with more
than 52 members represented in over 120 locations world-wide.
Through
this network Bharat Re gets opportunity to service mid-segment Multinational
Corporations operating in India and also places insurance business of Indian
corporate who set up business abroad.
Mr.
.Arunachalam has been spearheading a number of initiatives through
sophisticated peer-group interactions with certain insurance companies and
other entities in India.
He has
travelled extensively within India and overseas on official business – notably
visits to the South African and Sri Lankan markets for study of the insurance
market, products, systems and best practices, work experience in the
Philippines market as well as a number of conferences in Europe and South East
Asia.
