PHILIPS HEALTHCARE BOOSTS CRITICAL CARE IN TIRUCHIRAPPALLI

AT GEETHANJALI MEDICAL CENTER

In an initiative to spread awareness on critical care as the need of the hour, a detailed demonstration of the IntelliSpace Consultative Critical Care (ICCC) was organized today at Geetanjali Medical Center by Philips Healthcare.

It is a well-known fact that intensive care units are the places where critical patients are housed in a hospital, requiring high quality clinical care on a 24/7 basis. But more than 50% of all hospital deaths occur in an ICU. With only 800 intensivists in India, this is a challenge. Philips Innovation Campus, Bangalore developed the ICCC solution to address this and provide 24x7 critical care services by intensivists to medical centers across the country.

“Philips IntelliSpace Consultative Critical Care (ICCC) is a cutting edge tele solution that enables transformation of clinical care in an intensive care setting. Using the ICCC solution, one can now monitor multiple intensive care units from a central command center that may be located in a geographically separated area. Tiruchirappalli has been a major market for Philips Healthcare. We are proud to be the technology partner for InteleICU™ who is providing the ICCC solution to Geetanjali Medical Center, Tiruchirappalli,” says Srikanth Muthya, Director Philips Healthcare.

“The InteleICU™ program has been running successfully and has completed 7,200 TeleICU hours in strategic collaboration with Philips Healthcare. Through ICCC, patients are remotely monitored 24X7 extending specialist care to areas where such specialization is not readily available. With high quality specialized care and medical advice and guidance, this solution has helped in reducing number of deaths in the critical stage”, says Dr. N Ramakrishnan, Critical Care Specialist, InteleICU™.

According to Dr. Anand Rengaswamy, Geetanjali Medical Center, “A large percentage of the population (>75%) seeks healthcare in the Tier II and Tier III cities and towns where healthcare facilities aren’t as developed. The technology advancement through the ICCC solution is a big benchmark for the development of healthcare facilities in these cities. Geetanjali Medical Center has been an early adopter of this technology and aims to provide world class healthcare facility for its patients.”

Philips Healthcare aims to bring more than 1500 beds under ICCC solution.
