Tax Saving SREI Infra Bonds

Tax saving  SREI infrastructure bonds open for subscription.

SREI Infrastructure Finance Ltd recently issued tax-saving infra- structure bonds and is looking to raise up to Rs.300 crore. Like other infrastructure bond, investments in these will provide you a deduction of up to Rs. 20,000 under section 80 CCF.

Main features

# The issue will remain open till 31 January, 2012 and there are four se ries to choose from. Series I and II come with a coupon of 8.90% and a maturity of 10 years and series III and IV come with a coupon of 9.15% and a maturity of 15 years. Bonds for both maturities have a lock-in period of five years after which listing has been proposed on BSE

# Investors also have the option to go for buy-back (firm will buy back the bonds) at the end of 5th year. If buy-back is not done, the bonds will have to be redeemed at the end of the tenor.

# The bond's face value is RS.1,000 and you can buy just one bond too.
The bonds will be issued in demat form, but a special request for physical bonds can be made. Trading in bonds (after the end of the lock-in period) can be done only if held in de- materialized form.

# The issue is rated CARE AA+ by CARE, this represents high safety for debt servicing and very low credit risk. A credit rating is not a recommendation to buy or sell; other factors need to be kept in mind before taking that decision.

The Lead Managers to the Issue are ICICI Securities Limited, Karvy Investor Services Limited, RR Investors Capital Services Private Limited and Srei Capital Markets Lt (a wholly owned subsidiary of the Company to be engaged only in marketing of the Tranche 1 Issue)  The Co-Lead managers to the Issue are SMC Capitals Limited and Bajaj Capital Limited whilst Axis Trustee Services Limited is the Debenture Trustee to the Tranche 1 Issue.
