SEBI Special Camp to Resolve Investor Grievances!
Direct Assistance for Issues Related to Shares, Mutual Funds, Nominees and
More
“Dad had purchased some shares years ago. I
want to transfer them to my name, but I don’t know where to start,” Rajan told
his friend.
“If you have the shares and the relevant
documents, there is no need to worry. SEBI is conducting a special camp to help
investors resolve such issues,” his friend replied.
Investing is not just about buying shares or
mutual funds. Keeping investment records updated, registering a nominee,
correcting names, transferring securities and converting physical share
certificates into electronic form are equally important.
To provide direct assistance to investors,
the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI), Southern Regional
Office is organising an Investor Facilitation Camp 2026
in Chennai.

For investors holding physical securities,
keeping PAN, contact details, bank account details and nomination information
updated is particularly important.
Why Is Nomination Important?
Many investors purchased shares several years
ago and may not have reviewed their investment records since then.
If an investor passes away, transferring the
securities to the legal heirs can involve documentation and procedural
requirements. Keeping nomination details updated can help make the transmission
process more straightforward.
Investors who have questions about
nomination, transmission or other securities-related procedures can use the
facilitation camp to obtain appropriate guidance.
What If an Investor Has a Grievance?
As a general process, an investor should
first approach the concerned company, Registrar and Transfer Agent (RTA),
intermediary or other relevant entity regarding the issue.
If the grievance is not resolved, investors
can register their complaint through SEBI's SCORES platform,
which is the regulator's online grievance-redressal mechanism. SEBI SCORES
Documents Investors Should Carry
Investors attending the camp should
preferably carry all relevant documents relating to their issue. These may
include:
·
Physical share
certificates, wherever applicable.
·
PAN and other
identity documents.
·
KYC-related
documents.
·
Bank account
details.
·
Nomination-related
documents.
·
Documents
relating to legal heirs, wherever applicable.
·
Previous
correspondence with the company, RTA or intermediary.
·
Details of the
demat account, if relevant.
Having the relevant documents readily
available can help officials and service representatives understand the issue
more clearly.
Investor Protection Starts With Keeping
Records Updated
An investor's responsibility does not end
with making an investment. It is equally important to ensure that ownership
details, KYC information, bank details, nomination and other investment records
remain accurate and up to date.
Investors are requested to use the QR
code provided in the announcement to register for the SEBI Investor
Facilitation Camp.

resolving a problem after it arises. Keeping investment records and ownership
