Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Tamil Nadu Technology Development & Promotion Centre (TNTDPC) is organizing an Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) Awareness Program on 30 July 2026 at Tuticorin.

Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are the rights associated with intangible property owned by a person or company and protected against use without consent. IPR plays an important role in creating a competitive advantage for industries. The value of intangible assets like inventions, designs, software, brand names, and other creative and innovative ideas is higher than that of physical assets. It is necessary to protect IPR to allow organizations to gain financial recognition and benefits. IPR also helps in establishing an innovation ecosystem, incubate knowledge-based start-ups, earn additional revenue and measure research activity.

In this background, CII-TNTDPC is organizing this program to raise awareness about the significance of intellectual property rights in innovation and to embrace the innovation and ecosystem driven by intellectual property rights among stakeholders. The program provides the industry members with an opportunity to understand about IPR, necessity of protecting IPR, how to monetize IPR in the industry, and share their concerns and questions.

The session will cover the following topics:

2. Types of IPR – Patent, Design, Trademark & Copyrights

3. What can be protected under IPR

4. Filing Procedure of Patent, Design, Trademark & Copyrights

5. Government schemes available for IPR filing

Distinguished speakers, including IP experts and attorneys, will address the participants on the relevance of IPR for registered trademarks, Designs, Copyright & patents.
