Tambaram – no longer just a gateway to Chennai!!

Tambaram is a bustling suburb located in Chennai Metropolitan City and it comes under the Kanchipuram district. Due to its excellent connectivity to the IT corridors such as OMR – Rajiv Gandhi Salai, Oragadam, Sriperumbudur and Mahindra World City, Tambaram is much sought after by the IT sector population.

Connectivity..!

Tambaram is well connected by rail through frequent suburban electric train services from Tambaram railway station to Chennai Beach and Chengalpettu which are highly utilised by office goers.

The railway station is also one of the busiest in the city with a number of Express trains stopping over. The Chennai International airport is located within a distance of 10.5 km. The Chennai Bypass road passes through this area and the Tambaram Main Road connects to Velacheryand Medavakkam.

Tambaram Railway Station divides Tambaram into East Tambaram and West Tambaram. East Tambaram is very well developed with good connectivity to city, well laid roads and availability of shops, supermarkets, malls, and other conveniences. WestTambaram connects to the districts of Lakshmi Nagar, Krishna Nagar, Old Perungalathur, Bharathi Nagar, Madhana Puram and Mudichur, ending at the Vandaloor – Oragadam road. The development of the Vandaloor-Nemilichery Outer Ring Road is an extra boost to this area.
Real Estate

Today, with the city area being too expensive, suburbs such as Tambaram are a good place to invest in property. The proximity to the IT corridor and excellent connectivity by rail, road and air are key advantages.

Real estate prices for multi-storey building apartments in West Tambaram are between Rs 3,400-3,900 per sq ft. and between Rs 3,900-4,300 per sqft in East Tambaram

Considering Tambaram is one of the fastest developing neighbourhoods, the property value is in an upward transition.

Kishkinta Theme Park is a theme water park with plenty of exciting amusements and rides for the entire family.

History

The name Tambaram seems to be a derivation from the word Taampuram which, in turn, is derived from the word Taamapuram, which was the name of a water body.

The historic battle between Chalukyas and Pallavas was fought in Manimangalam. Guduvanchery has many sites where people were buried in earthen pots 2,000 years ago.  Stone tools used several thousands of years ago have been found in Pallavaram.

Future Potential..!

Development projects like direct trains between Tambaram and Arakkonam, a proposed Skywalk across Grand Southern Trunk Road near Tambaram station and creation of multi-level parking in West Tambaram are underway. These projects will definitely add value to this area.
