Philips Lighting reiterates its commitment to “Make in India” through local insights based on new LED innovations

·        Introduces slimmest LED Panel and a 2-in-1  LED lamp that changes colour with a simple toggle of the switch
·        Developed, designed and manufactured in India to respond to consumer insights

Philips Lighting India, the country’s leading provider of lighting solutions, today launched two revolutionary LED lighting products which have been primarily designed and developed in response to the Indian consumer insights.

The first-ever colour changing branded LED bulb with a simple toggle of switch and the slimmest ever downlighter by Philips, have been introduced to help the brand strengthen its foothold into the growing LED market in India.

PhilipsRazorLED and Philips Ace Saver 2-in-1 have been designed anddeveloped at Philips Lighting Innovation Centre (PLIC) in Noida. RazorLED is the slimmest ever LED downlighter by Philips (7.8mm) - it is 60% slimmer and 50% lighter compared to normal LED downlighters.

The product has enhanced colour rendering index adding to the interior appeal.

Ace Saver, an industry first, is a 2-in-1 colour changing LED lamp that changes colour between crystal white and golden yellowin the absence of a mobile phone or a tablet. Philips is the first branded lighting player in the industry to bring this innovation to India, after conceptualizing, designing and developing it in the country.

Smart solutions that seamlessly integrate in today’s homes and work spaces are driving the industry. At Philips, our innovations are based on consumer insights and we develop products that meet the evolving consumerneeds.

For e.g.: our researchreflects thatconsumers prefer white light for reading and switch to yellow light in a formal setting and the 2-in-1 LED bulb will do just that. The bulb can be simply controlled through a switch without any need for a smartphone or an app or any other frills.

Similarly, with slim and sleek being the preferred option for all lifestyle products, RazorLED has got great initial response from the consumers. We sold more than a million worth of products per day in the first 45 days of the launch”,said, Sumit Joshi, Head - Marketing, Philips Lighting India.

Lighting has moved from being just a functional product used for the purpose of illumination. Light has become digital, a lifestyle product and is becoming a solution rather than just a product. The category of down lights, wall & ceiling and spots account for 53% of the home lighting market.Philips’s Razor LED is manufactured with precision in LED mounting which gives uniform light distribution across the surface without any dark or bright spots, making it highly luminous.

Razor LED downlights come with a unique mounting mechanism that can easily fit into various false ceiling types – ply board, gypsum or particle board. Its high power factor reduces energy consumption and makes it last up to 3 times longer than conventional light sources.

Consumers now seek multiple functionality lighting solutionsandlike to be in control of the ambience which suits their moods, personalities and occasions. LED lighting plays an integral role here because it can be personalized.

The new Ace Saver 2-in-1 color changing LED lamp is designed to perfection for providing task-oriented illumination and ambient illumination, for both residential and professional use.

This improves the alignment of illuminance to key task areas, and provides individual control. It will benefit consumers with upto 85% energy saving as compared to GLS.

Philips has been at the forefront of developing indigenous products which are conceptualized, researched and developed at PLIC, and resonate with the Indian consumers. Philips products are customized to withstand local operating conditions like voltage fluctuations, frequent power outages, diverse weather conditions (dust, humidity, extreme temperature change) and are accordingly priced at competitive rates.

Philips has invested and expanded its R&D capabilities at PLIC and has developed more than 200 LED lighting products there in the last two years.
