The ‘6TH
INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON WORLD CLASS SUSTAINABLE CITIES 2014’ (WCSC 2014)
themed ‘PEOPLE MAKE COMMUNITIES, COMMUNITIES MAKE CITIES’ will be held on 25 September 2014 (Thursday) at the
Grand Ballroom, Hilton Hotel, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The Honorable Y.B. Datuk Abdul Rahman Dahlan, Minister in the Ministry of Urban Wellbeing, Housing & Local Government has graciously consented to officiate the ‘WCSC 2014 OFFICIAL OPENING CEREMONY’.
This 6th WCSC series is jointly organized by the 3 Partner Organizations: REHDA Wilayah Persekutuan Kuala Lumpur (REHDA KL), the Malaysian Institute of Planners (MIP) & the Malaysian Institute of Architects (PAM), together with the official support of Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
WCSC series provides a constructive platform to educate and engage all stakeholders, as well as showcase international best practices from other World Class Cities.
WCSC has also continued to gain recognition and
prominence amongst the built-environment industry professionals, City Managers,
Government agencies, residents’ groups, NGO’s and city stakeholders in
addressing the benefits and challenges faced towards becoming a World Class
City by the year 2020.
This 6th WCSC conference series will feature 5 distinguished international and local speakers namely:
* Mr Fred Kent, Founder & President, Project for Public Spaces (PPS), New York, USA;
* Prof Wulf Daseking, Professor, Freiburg University / Professor, Planning & Architecture, London University / Former Chief Planning Officer, City of Freiburg, Germany;
* Mr Kerry Doss, Manager, City Planning & Economic Development Branch, City Planning & Sustainability Division, Brisbane City Council, Queensland, Australia;
* Y Bhg Datin Paduka Dr Halimaton Saadiah bt Hashim, Principal Fellow, Institute for Environment & Development (LESTARI), Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM); and
* Y Bhg Datuk Hj Mahadi bin Che Ngah, Deputy Director-General (Planning), Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL).
