Illegal Constructions..!

The owners had approached the  Bombay court against the drive undertaken by PCMC (Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation)  against illegal constructions within its limits.

Mr. Sadanand Deshmukh, Legal Advisor, PCMC, said, ''The rejection of the appeals has paved the way for the civic body to demolish the unauthorised constructions."

Mr. M.T. Kamble, City Engineer, PCMC, said, ''A total of about  95 cases had been lodged with the Bombay high court  by owners of illegal constructions, opposing the demolition drive"

Mr. Kamble also said, “We have sought details from the legal department regarding the unauthorised constructions & their owners who have lost appeals in the high court. This will help us in preparing an action plan to start the demolition drive. Earlier in September, 2012 the high court had rejected appeals of 20 such owners".

In the past three months, the civic body PCMC  had demolished about 6.35 lakh square feet of unauthorised constructions. Cases were lodged against about 205 people. The PCMC carried out  nearly 140 demolition drives between June 28 and November 5,  2012.

Heavy Police Security..!

All demolition drives are being carried out in the presence of heavy police security as people have been opposing the PCMC's drives.

Several constructions which were demolished had more than 4 floors. The PCMC  has hired machinery like heavy forklaines to demolish such constructions.
