Salary & Bonus Expectation in 2012: Chennai is Top

In India above  80% of at least 400 employees polled in a Ma Foi Randstad workmonitor survey released on recently  expect an increment, bonus or better employee benefits, putting companies on the back foot as the appraisal season gets underway. These employees were polled part of a larger survey that covered almost 1.3 lakh employees in 30 countries.

Nearly  72% of employees in India also said, ''Their salary is no reflection of their performance, even though they were well aware about the difficult nature of the job market"

Mr. E.  Balaji, MD & CEO, Ma Foi Randstad said, “In a high inflation economy companies will have to give a salary raise, but the quantum is subjective. The fear of losing employees to competition is ruled out in a dull market and employees may be willing to work at existing salaries. But once things improve, companies will have to set the pace again".

Recruitment companies are also asking candidates not to demand a 40-50% raises when changing jobs.

They are advising candidates to ask for only 15-30% when they shift jobs.

Countries where employees expect big raises are China,  Argentina, Brazil, and Mexico while their European counterparts have muted expectations. Only a third of European firms surveyed expect any pay hikes.
